Complementary observations of Rubin discoveries from a range of telescope facilities will be an important part of achieving the goals of the science community.  Increasingly, telescope facilities are offering flexible modes of observation and programmatic tools that enable time-domain astrophysics. The AEON Network is one example of this.  The goal of this workshop are:
  1. Review the services that comprise the Rubin ‘follow-up ecosystem’ 
  2. Review the Time Allocation Process for telescopes participating in the Rubin International In Kind Program
  3. Discuss the technical requirements for an observatory to become AEON-compatible
  4. Provide a forum for feedback and questions from observatory operators
  5. Describe in detail the alternative options for an observatory to receive observing requests and return data.
  6. Explore the open-source software packages available to help observatories to meet the AEON requirements.  
The workshop is intended to be hands-on hackathon in style, and will be of particular interest to everyone involved in telescope operations.  Representatives from all interested observatories are welcome, especially those participating in the Rubin International In Kind Program. 
 
 

Prerequisites for the Hands-On Sessions

Some sessions at the workshop are intended to be hands-on software demonstrations and we encourage everyone to participate. 
To do so, you will need four packages pre-installed.  Full guidelines on what you will need can be found here.
